The City of Lebanon operates under a City Council/City Manager form of government. A nine member City Council is elected for two year terms. Elections are held the second Tuesday in March. The City Council is responsible for establishing City policies.
The City Manager is the Chief Executive Officer, appointed by the City Council. The City Manager is responsible for supervising and conducting the day-to-day operations and affairs of the City and to carry out the policies established by the City Council.
CITY DEPARTMENTS/SERVICES
City Hall is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. City Hall is located at 51 North Park Street. The following departments are located in City Hall: Main Level: Lower Level: Assessing Codes (Building Inspection & Zoning) City Clerk City Manager Planning Finance Engineering Tax Collector Water & Sewer Billing. Other departments located in City Hall include: Recreation Department (located off front lobby) City Council Chambers (third floor)
The City of Lebanon Human Services Office (formerly referred to as Welfare) has moved from City Hall to the Hanover Street Plaza located at 103 Hanover Street in Lebanon. The office is located on the back side of the plaza. The phone number remains the same at 448-2944.
The Fire Department provides emergency medical/ ambulance service. The Central Fire Station (Station 1) is located on South Park Street in Lebanon. Station 2 is located on Main Street in West Lebanon and Station 3 is located on Route 4 in the eastern section of the City. Call 911 for fire/ambulance emergencies, and 448-8810 for non-emergencies.
The Police Department is located at 36 Poverty Lane in Lebanon. Call 911 for emergencies and 448-1212 for non emergencies. The number for the administrative offices is 448-8800.
The Public Works Department located at 20 Spencer St. in Lebanon, consists of the Office of the Director, Resource Management, Engineering Div. (located in City Hall) and the following groups:
Operations & Maintenance Group provides maintenance and repair services of the City's streets, sidewalks, traffic lights, signs, water lines, sewer lines and parks. If you have an emergency during non-duty hours, call 448-1212.
Solid Waste Management Group is located on Route 12A and operates the City's Landfill and Recycling Center. Lebanon residents may purchase tickets during regular hours to use the Landfill at City Hall, the Lebanon Library and the West Lebanon Library. Tickets cannot be purchased at the Landfill. Recycling is available to all Lebanon residents free of charge. Free wood chips and compost is available to Lebanon residents, please bring your own shovel. Hours are M-F 8:30 am - 5:00 pm and Sat. 8:30 am to 2:00 pm.
Utility Operations Group is responsible for the day-to-day operations of both the Water Treatment Facility located on Pumping Station Road and the Wastewater Treatment Facility located on Treatment Plant Road (off Rt. 12A). The Wastewater Treatment Facility provides compost to residents free of charge, please bring your own shovel. If you are interested in a tour of either facility, call 448-2514.
The Recreation Department, located in City Hall, offers many programs and special events year round which are described in a quarterly newsletter available through schools, libraries and at City Hall. Activities include youth and adult sports, coaching education, swimming and skiing lessons, drama, music and art programs, outdoor education, a July 4th celebration and parade, Camp Kaleidoscope, and the popular summer concert series in Colburn Park. Youth-In-Action, a teen volunteer program, involves young people in community service projects. Public parks & facilities include three ballfields, a swimming pool, ski area, boat launch, and over 800 acres of natural areas to explore.
